MBA (Agribusiness)

Eligibility Criterion
Indian nationals having Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agrochemicals, Dairy Science/ Technology, Fishries, Food Science/Technology, Forestry, Home Science, Horticulture or veterinary Science are eligible to apply for the Master of Business Administration (For specialization in Agribusiness) degree programme. Final year graduating students, who expect to complete all degree requirements before the date of reporting for the programme are also eligible to apply for the respective programmes. Drifting a bit from the conventional style of specializations in functional areas, MBA (Agribusiness) programme provides training which is Industryfocussed. Students, based on their background and interest do specialization in one or two fields viz. Farm Engineering, Food Industry, Hi-tech Agriculture, Horticulture, Input Supply, Vet-Pharmaceutical, and Livestock Industry. While focussing on the real-life situation a due care has been taken to make students conceptually strong. In addition to the classroom efforts, working on projects – both short term and long term, onsite case studies, students also participate in seminars, symposia, lectures of subject exponents and so on.
Pedagogy
The key approach to attain the objective of PGP is the nstructional methodology and the evaluation system of both students and teachers. The instructional methodology practiced is interactive, through discussion on real-life case studies of the agribusiness sector, and optimum use of audio-visual aids and computer by the in-house faculty as well as by the visiting faculty, comprising practicing managers from leading agribusiness firms.
Course Structure
In the first year, students are given a holistic view of general principles of management covering all functional areas of management. The students are tested in the field during their summer training at various corporate houses. Successively, in the third semester students acquire expertise in the specific industries of their choice viz. input supply, food, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, pesticides, farm machinery etc.. In the final semester students undertake full-time final project (four months) which helps them to take off intricacies of the target industry.
